Alivia + Jordan | Winter Wedding

Originally published in 2016

You may remember these two from their awesome engagement adventure we shot last Spring. Jordan + Alivia are just two of the coolest people. It was an honor to document this day for them, Jordan's mom has been a mentor of mine since high school and both of their families are literally the sweetest!

They got married in January, at a beautiful church downtown and the snowflakes showed up just to make everything more beautiful. The reception was hosted by Jordan's family at their family-operated restaurant, Tozzi's on 12th, a local legend for the best Italian food ever! So many personal moments and details went into their traditional wedding making it one of our favorites! What a way to start 2016!

Riley + Matt - Ohio Thunderhead Pines Wedding

Riley and Matt and I (Mallory) bonded over vanlife plans and big dreams. These two are the most genuine and sweet couple and they were SO in love on their wedding day. I loved the intimacy of their whole day and the joy they brought to everyone around them! So honored to document this for them!

Marissa + Chris | Ohio Backyard Wedding

Marissa and I (mallory) have known each other for about five years. When she introduced me to Chris, I knew right away he was special to her. In planning their wedding, all she wanted was to have their close friends and family at their home together for a beautiful celebration. Every detail of the day was planned and executed by Chris, Marissa, and their friends and family. It’s one of my favorite backyard weddings to date. There we so many special details and moments and it was an honor for us to be there for such great friends.

Spice Acres Wedding | Kat + Zak

I could rattle off a list of reasons why Kat & Zak quickly became our favorite couple, or how we have so much in common, or how they chose the most amazing vendor team...but it's really just not even about their wedding or about us. I'd much rather talk about how these two chose to center this celebration around their love of each other and natural, how they chose to focus their weekend around celebrating with their people. It's obvious to see why, too, their family and friends were so happy, genuine and inclusive. We felt like guests the whole weekend.
In their vows, they spoke of family, of hiking, of trials on the trail and hardships they've overcome. They spoke with cracked voices, holding back tears, overwhelmed with joy. They held each other close all day and each portrait we captured was the product of a real moment, never performed.
It was beautiful in every single way and I would shoot this wedding 100 times more if I could.

Rachel + Brian | October Backyard Wedding

As I sit in this Starbucks trying to drown out all the noise; the metal cups bashing the ice, the chairs scooting across the floor, the baristas enthusiastically bellowing names of people and sentence-long names of drinks, the vibration of music playing...I can't even put words to this story. This environment is too mundane for the level of spirit and emotion in this love story.
This story doesn't even need words, really.
Rachel & Brian were really connected, really emotional, really in love and really expressive of their gratitude for everyone surrounding them. See for yourself. It was one for the books.

Mandy + Wade - Ohio Farmhouse Wedding

After spending the morning with her girls in the historic farmhouse, Mandy calmly got dressed while awaiting the rain shower that showed up uninvited for their first look. Rain on a wedding day is a common fear in Ohio but Mandy & Wade gracefully endured the light showers to make memories out in the fields at Brookside Farms before their barn ceremony + reception. As a heavy fog quieted the scene, we found quiet places for shelter under the evergreens along the creekside. Guests enjoyed the smell of dinner from the smoker as they arrived to the ceremony. And they partied into the night while these two thoroughly enjoyed everything the night had to offer.

2017 Collected| Wedding inspiration

This rustic yet modern wedding inspiration is for the couple who has really good taste in design and in food + drink but doesn't need anything traditional at their wedding. This look features a build-your-own bourbon cocktail bar set in front of a handmade weaving installation, a custom made table, mismatched bridesmaids and a stacked rug ceremony stage...the earthy and slightly moroccan vibe the vendors pulled together for this collaborative shoot make for a beautifully eclectic wedding style that touches on some really great trends for the 2017/2018 seasons.
This style inspiration was created by a collaborating team of wedding professionals for an event we founded called Collected. You can learn more about it below and also get in touch with all the vendors!

//About Collected//
Four years ago this event was a hair-brained and selfish attempt at making more friends in our local market. We didn't know any wedding vendors or any other photographers back then and it was lonely. So we reached out to some really amazing people and asked them to work with us. Everyone far exceeded our vision and expectations not only with their work for Collected but with their giving spirits and kind hearts. Those people are solid, real life friends today and we couldn't be more thankful for that hair-brained idea that turned into something we never imagined. For the last four years, Collected has been an event for wedding photographers and vendors to retreat. To make photos we want to make with stylish details and on-brand models. The photos and inspiration are for our couples! The style, the ideas, the handmade items it's all in hopes of encouraging couples to think outside the box when it comes to their wedding. And to be personal, unique and purposeful in the design.

Collected is a true collaborative event meant to build the networks and portfolios in the vendor/photographer/model markets. As the founders, we collect the wedding vendors and encourage them to work as a team creating work for the style/vision we set before them. Each year is better than the year before, I swear, I don't know how that's possible.

For the photographers and models, things get crazy and chaotic (hence the new hashtag #collectedchaos) but there is a method to the madness. The alternative group shooting style get's us out of our little bubbles, out from behind the camera a bit and tests our boundaries. At the end we're more in-tune with who we are and what we want for our own businesses. Shooting the work of each vendor allows us to use our creative passion to help others grow their own businesses and that part feels pretty good, but selfishly we're also boosting our referral circle by making friends.

There's food, drinks and it's always a really good time. The theme is always on-trend so we can all make beautiful, impactful images to share and showcase our skills! If you're interested in joining the Collected chaos in the future, you can check out the new website here and sign up to collaborate.

We'll eventually be doing vendor highlights over on the blog there but for now, here's the Mallory + Justin take on 2017 Collected. Be sure to check the list of amazing contributors at the end!  We're humbled by your friendship alone but the amazingness of this event continues to surprise us!

Thanks so much to these amazing creative collaborators:

Emily + Andy | Hale Farm Wedding

Emily + Andy are adventurous, they met exploring a National Park, so when it poured down rain and the thunder roared on their outdoor ceremony these two made the best of it! Guests huddled under umbrellas as they waited for Emily to walk down the isle. Just as their vows began the rain cleared and this beautiful fog rolled over the hills of Hale Farm. A barn party, an evening walk and a bon fire completed the night! We loved this wedding for it's location, simplicity and fun vibe! Emily + Andy were so relaxed and tuned in to one another! Take a look!

A Sweet Social | Autumn Inspiration

We had the privilege of collaborating on a last minute shoot with an awesome team of vendors and it was later featured on Inspired By This.

Autumn in Ohio can be finicky, you wait and wait for the leaves to change and every year it seems like they change over night and then they're gone. Last October, our sweet friend Krissy from Sweetwater Caravan waited until the perfect day to put this theme together. It's a perfect, sweet social get together. A night of wine and sweets drenched in golden rays and amber leaves. Pure magic. Consider these ideas for your next autumn gathering, intimate wedding or sweet social girls night, like we did!

Natalya + Charlie | Peacock Ridge Farm Wedding

Adventurers, world-travelers, always hand in hand, lovers of photography. That's Natalya + Charlie, so naturally you know we hit it off. Charlie proposed in Iceland (bummer we missed that!) and they planned a close-to-home wedding at Peacock Ridge Farm in Ohio. A perfect backdrop for their adventurous spirits. This was our favorite wedding this year mainly because at sunset Natalya jumped up and down in excitement for their portraits in this giant golden field. It was breathtaking and they took in every single bit of it.

Taylor + Tony, Ohio Barn Wedding

We truly adored Taylor & Tony. Just something about their love and sense of humor really struck us. We met up with them a few times over the last year or so (once for their engagement you can see here) and every time they both had us howling. We adored these two so much we printed one of their wedding photos just to put up in our office! What sweethearts they are to everyone and what a lovely wedding day they had!

Venue: Hoover Hall, Walsh University
Florals: Twigs & Twine

Kaitlin + John | Brookside Farms, Ohio

I knew when we met Kaitlin & John that their wedding would be one that fits right in with our vibe of living and documenting the most authentic stories. They're a laid back, loving couple that planned a day as equally laid back and loving. The timeline was slow and casual and left time for them to spend the day with all their favorite people. Their joy shines in every single photograph and it was real. They made memories and we were honored to be the ones to witness and savor it for them!
